Since the mid-1970's, biotechnology and electronics/telecommunication technology have been looked upon as the "high technologies" that will lead to future expansions in industry and bisiness as well as increases in employment opportunities. In the last twnety years, very rapid expansion of the electronics/ telecommunication industries did take place; while industrial expansion based upon biotechnology turned out to be slow and disappointing.
