Performance and reliability of high-power lasers between 900-990 nm

High-power (>1W) semiconductor lasers operating between 900-990 nm are widely used for solid-state laser pumping.~1 Despite reports on high-power device performance,~2 there have yet not been reports of device reliablity. In this paper, we present the high-power and high-temperature performance characteristics of 100-mum broadarea lasers. In addition, preliminary lifetest data supports high reliability suitable for telecommunication applications.
