A reflective STN-LCD (super twisted nematic -liquid crystal display) using a blazed reflector and with the light scattering material between the display and the reflector is proposed. Key features include almost a doubling in brightness and contrast ratio due to reflection of the image toward the normal direction of the display and misalignment of the image and surface reflection. Moreover, good white representation is obtained to optimize the refractive index in the normal direction of the retardation film.
