Effect of WC size on the mechanical property of WC/Co alloy

摘要

The present work was focused for refining of microstructure of WC/Co to improve mechanical property. WC/Co powder which has nanoscale WC particles and high level of homogeneity was produced by new chemical process. Theoretical density of sintered samples were reached in 20 minutes sintering time at 1400°C with relatively small additions of VC/TaC and VC. The hardness and transverse rupture strength values of the VC/TaC doped nanostructure samples are compared with those of commercially available ultra-fine materials. Nanostructure WC/Co was shown excellent mechanical properties due to fine microstructure and good homogeneity.
