摘要

The ternary intermetallic phase Fe_(12)Ti_5Si_3 (FTS) was synthesized from elemental powders by different powder metallurgical methods. Pressureless sintering and cold and hot isostatic pressing were used for consolidation of powders. Sintering and diffusion behavior as well as the process of formation of intermetallic phases were intensively investigated. The mechanical properties were determined by hardness measurements between room temperature and 600°C, fracture toughness measurements as well as Young's and shear modulus measurements. High strength and brittleness were observed at room temperature. The intermetallic phase shows a melting point of 1470°C. The results of corrosion tests and ferromagnetic investigations will be presented. The diffusion behavior in the temary system Fe-Ti-Si in special consideration of the formation of intermetallic phases will be discussed.
