This session has four technical papers; two on fatigue issues, one on erosion/corrosion subject and one on computer software year 2000 compliance. The paper on "A Probabilistic Basis for Damage Tolerance Assessments and Component Fatigue Life Extension" by S.R. gosselin, F.A. Simonen, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Richland, offers an insight on how the fatigue issues can be addressed by providing current techniques and state of the art analytical evaluations. The paper offers/provides good discussion and useful hints on this subject and present key approaches in analytical evaluation. Another paper on "Fatigue Monitoring for Demonstrating Fatigue Design Basis Compliance," by G.L.Stevens, A.F.Deardorff, D.S.Gerber, Structural Integrity Associates, San Jose, CA; S.T. Rosinski, EPRI, Charlotte, NC: offers good discussion on a similar subject and is well presented with excellent methods on how to monitor fatigue life. This is a valuable contribution. There is a considerable effort involved in assembling these subjects and demonstrates how a well-planned team effort by all parties contributed to its success.
