摘要

A landmine detection technique is proposed, based on differences in moisture content of the mine and the surrounding soil. Microwave radiation is used to heat the soil containing the mine. The moist soil is warmed far more than the mine. This produces temperature differences at the surface which can be detected by infra-red scanning. Laboratory tests show that buried nonmetallic objects can be located with this technique.
