The potential use of carbohydrate-bearing polymers is receiving considerable attention for biomedical and pharmaceutical applications. ~1 This increasing interest is due to the fact that glycoconjugates can be designed to meet specific physicochemical requirements ~2 and due to the low toxic and immunogenic effects exhibited by glycoconjugates. ~(6-8) Among potential cellular targets by glycoconjugates, macrophages are considered ideal since they play a central role in inflammation and act as reservoirs for microorganisms that are involved with deadly infectious diseases. ~(9-12) In this context, we studied effects of glycoconjugates contributing to the destruction of B. cereus bacterial spores using macrophages.
