Vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) study of gramicidin D is carried out in the presence of monovalent and divalent cations in methanol-d_4, 1-propanol and CHCl_3-methanol solutions. The relation between VCD spectra and different conformations of gramicidin is established. The influence of solvents and cations on gramicidin conformations is discussed.
