Local condensation heat transfer coefficient and local mass transfer coefficient of vapor boundary layer are experimentally obtained for turbulent film condensation of binary mixture on a vertical plate. A smooth stainless steel plate of 2890 mm in length, 120 mm in width and 9 mm in thickness is used as a. condenser plate. Binary mixtures of CFC11/CFC113 and HCFC123/CFC113 are used as the working fluids. The local condensation heat transfer coefficients of the binary mixtures are compared with those of pure vapor and are considerably smaller than those of pure vapor. A nondimensional correlation to predict the local mass transfer coefficient of vapor boundary layer is derived for turbulent flow. The results calculated by using the obtainded nondimensinal correlations for mass transfer coefficient of vapor boundary layer and heat transfer coefficient of turbulent liquid film agree with the experimental data.
