摘要

We have proposed an unified structural description of icosahedral and related phases in terms of six dimensional crystallography. The method adopted to arrive at the physical space structural details of such phases relates to that of section and projection. Various phases discussed by us include i) icosahedral ii) decagonal iii) vacancy ordered phase in incommensurate limit and iv) various approximant phases. The purpose of this presentation will be to bring out some interesting aspects of higher dimensional crystallography which are not encountered in the three dimensional counterpart. We will also discuss the continuity of description by indicating that there is a one to one correspondence between the various structural transformations of the three dimensional physical space with those in six dimension.
