In the calculation of pressure pulsations in reciprocating compressors and the piping systems, the appropriate evaluation of the damping for pulsations should be done so as to keep the calculating accuracy. In the calculating method of pressure pulsations proposed by the authors, " the Method of Equivalent Linearization for the Fundamental Component ", which linearizes the non-linear damping (the velocity-squared damping) for the fundamental component of pulsations and dose not depend on the acoustic natural frequencies (modes), has been applied so far. This paper deals with the damping taking the acoustic natural modes into account. As the result of the investigations, it is suggested (1) the Method of Equivalent Linearization for the Fundamental Component is practical in the plant design, (2) the damping considering the acoustic natural modes occasionally becomes negative, and the new damping evaluation method that one damping is decided for fluctuating flow is reasonable in the calculation of pressure pulsations.
