Parallel implicit iterative solution techniques are considered for application to a compressible Euler/Navier-Stokes solver using multi-dimensional upwind schemes on unstructured meshes. Numerical evaluation of the complete Jacobian matrix needed for the linearization process is first achieved at low cost, by finite-difference approximation. The computational domain is then divided into a set of overlapping subdomains. Numerical results are presented for parallel computations on the Cray T3D under the message passing interface MPI.
