Ensuring public safety in PLC controlled water treatment plants

摘要

Design methods are outlined which are thought to achieve a favourable balance between cost and risk in largely unmanned drinking-water treatment stations. A hardwired emergency shutdown system, software best practice, and telemetry to a central computing facility from more than 1500 sites are described.
