摘要

Two problems must be solved for lean-burn engines to be commertialized; these are the decreased burning velocity and increased misfires as the mixture is thinned to some extent This paper shows that such problems can be solved by adding smallamount of hydrogen to the lean hydrocarbon/air mixture. By only little hydrogen addition, the turbulent burning velocity was substantially increased and the lean limit largely extended. Mechanisms of such phenomena are discussed qualitatively.
