Microwave sintering of ceramics is a new technique developed rapidly in recent years as its unique dielectric heating mechanism by coupling the power directly into the ceramic body. Superfine zirconia toughened mullite (ZTM) has been produced by sintering in a single mode microwave applicator. Here we present the processing of microwave sintered ZTM and its microstructure features.
