Fiber optic Bragg grating strain sensor in large-scale concrete structures

ptic Bragg gratings were used and evaluated as strain gauges. An expression describing the relationship of the strain to relative spectral shift was derived from the phase index of refraction of the waveguide and it was experimentally verified. The application of these sensors in large scale concrete structures was evaluated.
