The measurement and diagnosis partial discharge (PD) is accepted as one of the most valuable means for assessing the quality of high voltage (HV) power apparatus and cables. Different insulation system has a different discharge mechanism. At present, in the quality of high pressure component testing, the partial discharge and insulation defect of the relationship has become very important standard. Therefore, whether bureau put data identification (partial discharge pulse shape, bureau put data and pulse shape distribution density of statistical parameter) or bureau put classification analysis (statistical algorithms or neural network), will change from traditional identification methods for automatic identification. This paper describes the principles of calculating signal starting time through energy accumulation method and the location algorithm based on time difference. And the Newton algorithm and network search methods to solve the nonlinear equations are given. Finally, we define 3-D coordinate system by four antennas arrays, and calculate the coordinate of the PD location, and prove the algorithm above by lab simulation and locale measurement.
