Experiments and researches are carried out for the changes of partial discharge and ground current signals caused by floated deficiency in the high-voltage electrical equipment such as GIS and transformer. The floated discharge model and the test platforms are applied to simulate the PD inside the GIS and oil-immersed transformer. The variation of partial discharge signals and ground current signals are observed by increasing the voltage under the two test conditions. By making the analyses such as the correlation between the two signals, the trend of the partial discharge intensity and ground current, the spectrum analysis of the ground current, to verify the fact that the ground current can effectively reflect the occurrence of the floated discharge in the power equipment. It is of great significance by monitoring the variation of the ground current and combing with the judgment of the partial discharge detection.
