The influence of different mooring components on the motion of asimple, floating structure is investigated against the background of themotion behavior of a floating wave energy converter. The requirementsfor floating wave energy converters’ mooring systems differ from thoseof offshore Oil & Gas platforms. On the one hand, the mooring systemneeds to have a certain stiffness for the station keeping, on the other handits influence on the motion of the wave energy converter should beminimized. Therefore, on a basis of a simple catenary mooring differentchain weights, lump weights and midline floats were installed and theirinfluence on the motion response of the floating structure wasinvestigated.
