In this paper, linear frequency-domain hydroelastic analysis isperformed for investigating the behavior of a spar-type supportingplatform of a floating offshore wind turbine considering the platform’sflexibility. A “dry” mode superposition approach is utilized, where theflexible mode shapes are determined through the application of a FEMbased structural model. The diffraction/radiation problem is solvedusing the boundary integral equation method. Focus is given on theflexible modes’ generalized hydrodynamic forcing and responses, thespar’s hydroelastic response and the coupling effects between theflexible and the rigid-body modes. For irregular waves, the effect of thepeak period on the response spectra and the hydroelastic response isanalyzed.
