The vortex flowmeters are rather popular in the industry because of their reliability and low cost, but there is a need to expand their measuring range towards the small flow rates metering as well. The scientists have been carrying out the commercial research of the vortex flowmeters for decades, and a lot of attention has been paid to the flow rate measurement accuracy improvement. The authors have critically conceptualized the methods for improvement of metrological characteristics of such flowmeters that have already become traditional. The authors have particularly focused on the algorithmic methods for flow rate measurement accuracy improvement. The authors have studied the flowmeter equation and further selected the conversion function that enabled to reduce the metering error at small flow rates from 3% to 0.5%.
