PWR reactors have faced many corrosion issuessince the sixties. From Carbon and Low Alloy steels toStainless Steel ones, many occurrences of SCC or moreclassical corrosion phenomena happened, with sometimesstrong maintenance or inspection consequences. Theseissues induced many research works and industrialactivities, either to fully tackle them or to be able to copewith them properly during plant operation. However, not all corrosion phenomena have the samesignificance with respect to plant safety, depending ontheir nature, phenomenology or the chemistry of theaffected systems. The paper will introduce the safety considerations andtheir connections with corrosion issues. Accordingly, based on these considerations, and the operatingexperience, we will provide an overview of futurecorrosion issues that may be significant from a safetyperspective. We will focus mainly on the primary andsecondary systems and highlight both the new-build andLTO perspectives.
