(935)ENTERPRISE CONTENT REFRESH: CURATING 15 YEARS OF ECONTENT IN THE ERA OF MOORE'S LAW

In the early days of the promotion of digital libraries and digital repositories, potential consumers ofthese products had to be educated on and convinced of the value and potential efficiencies introducedby these platforms. The challenge was that, ten years ago, organizations and institutions had not yetaccumulated enough digital inventory to feel the pain and truly experience the problems that theseproducts were intended to address and mediate. Today, the amount and diversity of content isgrowing at unprecedented rates. The technology used to create and consume this content is changingrapidly as well. To further exacerbate these issues, business lines and individuals responsible foraddressing these content issues are often ill-prepared to address these issues due to a lack oftraining, best practices, and other key areas of preparedness. This paper will describe the problem indetail and outline strategies for organizations to not only address their current content managementissues but to also create roadmaps for addressing their content management needs better in thefuture.
