(1663) EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN OF A RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIAL: A PILOT PROJECT FOR THE PRACTICAL INTRODUCTION OF THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD IN THE MEDICINE DEGREE

The Medicine degree of Universitat Jaume I is successfully running its third academic year. In the lastINTED 2013, we presented our experience about introducing the scientific method during theacademic year 2012-2013, as an initiative of one of the strategic objectives in the Medicine degree: tointroduce the scientific method in the degree and to guide the students towards the acquisition of basicskills in biomedicine research. Our past experience in introducing the scientific method in our course'Computer resources and information research' led us to rethink the original teaching approach. Theaim of this work is to describe a new innovative approach based on the Problem-Solving learningmethodology: a reduced project team, composed only by students of our subject, assumes theresponsibility to propose a clinical problem, to design a methodologically solid clinical study, and toexecute the study within a simulated environment as a pilot project.
