The direct transformation of CH_4 to liquid is difficult and nowadays not economic [1].Therefore,the interest towards the indirect pathway involving the catalytic partial oxidation of CH_4 to syngas(CPO)is increasing [2].Ni and/or Rh based catalysts(ex-HT)derived by hydrotalcite precursor have been claimed as effective catalysts in the CPO reaction [3-6].In this work, new stable ex-HT catalysts are prepared by inserting silicate instead of CO_3~(2-)anions in the interlayer. The amount of silicates is not limited by the charge balance of the cations, since,an excess of silicates leads to the formation of polisilicate anions. The insertion of silicates affects the structure of the calcined samples, since, unlike CO_3~(2-),the silicates remain in the structure and contribute to the formation of the final catalysts.
