Although often neglected, the dynamic behavior of bearings is a crucial part in the analysis of wind turbine designs. For example, in [3]: "The extremely high dynamic loading on the components is of special significance." In order to analyze bearing dynamics one must simulate complex mechanic multibody systems. This proves to be a very time-consuming matter. First, because the number of degrees of freedom n can easily exceed 1000 for a single wind turbine bearing. Secondly, because the equations are stiff. We are challenged to find adequate force models and to solve the following system of ODE's (supplemented by suitable initial conditions)
