In accordance with the EU energy strategy, the main goal of the presented work is to provide a more effective applicability of environmentally friendly fuels (wheat straw pellets) for energy production by partially replacing a fossil fuel (crashed coal) with a renewable one. This study combines an experimental study and a mathematical simulation of the processes, developing at the co-combustion of straw pellets and crashed coal, aimed at evaluation of the influence of the elemental composition and heating values of the components on the main gasification/combustion characteristics, heat output and emission of the flue gas products. The experimental study was carried out using a batch-size setup with a heat output up to 1 kW, which consists of a biomass gasifier and a combustor [1]. The gasifier was loaded with a mixture of straw pellets and crashed coal in various proportions.
