A Study on Extinction Behavior of Stretched Premixed SNG(H_2-11) Flames

Experimental and numerical studies are conducted to investigate the downstream interaction between premixed flames on SNG(H_2-11%) fuel with variation strain rate. The selected fuel mixture components are CH_4 80%, C_3H_8 9% and H_2 11%. Flame stability diagrams mapping lower and upper limit fuel concentrations for extinction as a function of strain rate are explored. The Lean Extinction Boundaries (after, LEB) are slanted shape, thereby indicating strong interactions, and the Rich Extinction Boundaries (after, REB) present square shape, thereby indicating weak interactions. The detailed explanations on those flame extinction characteristics in the stability diagrams are made through analysis of the flame structures.
