In order to discuss the self-cleaning property of TiO_2 on greasy dirt, the photocatalysis of TiO_2 coated cotton fabric using oleic acid as contaminant was investigated. Four different concentrations (0, 0.1, 1.0, and 3.0 weight ratio (wt%)) of TiO_2 nanoparticle aqueous solutions were used for coating on cotton fabric. The coating process was carried out by the dip-pad-dry-cure process. The self-cleaning property of coated cotton fabrics were investigated; the results show that TiO_2 nanoparticle-coated fabric have more apparent self-cleaning property than 0wt% coated fabric. Moreover, the color difference, ΔE~*ab, was used to qualitatively evaluate the self-cleaning property for greasy dirt.
