Production of exotic nuclei in projectile fragmentation at relativistic and Fermi energies

Isotopic distributions of projectile fragmentation in peripheral heavy ion collisions of ~(86)Kr on ~(112)Sn are calculated within the statistical multifragmentation model. Obtained data are compared to the experimental cross section measurements. We show the enhancement in the production of neutron-rich isotopes close to the projectile, observed in the experiments. Our results show the universality of the limitation of the excitation energy induced in the projectile residues.
