TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY: INSIGHTS FROM RENEWABLE ENERGY IN INDIA

This paper focuses on how new renewable energy technologies can help to achieve the goal of a more desirable, sustainable and equitable future for all (UN, 2015). Using research on sustainability, ecosystems and complexity theory (Best, 2015; Clarysse et. al, 2014; Holland, 1993), the paper develops a framework for designing a sustainable production and consumption ecosystem for the wider adoption of renewable energy technologies by bottom of the pyramid and rural populations. A case study of an organization engaged in using biomass-based renewable energy in India is provided to support the model.
