Proposal of Methods of Interactive Art to Empower Japanese Local City: The Work 'Counters' in Kameyama Triennale

Recently in Japan, many activities to revitalize local cities have been increasing. To those need, this research is trial to empower the city by using interactive art in community art project. This research introduces two proposals for interactive art to empower the city. One proposal is “exhibition system to enable unintentional work appreciation”. The other is “usage of the facial image of local residents as a part of work”. Then I introduce art “COUNTERS” as an example that implemented two proposals. This work is an interactive art using the Kinect sensor and the single focus projector. This work was exhibited in the community art project "Kameyama Triennale [7]" held in Kameyama City in Mie Prefecture during October to November in 2014 for a week. The work was exhibited only at night in the shopping street with arcade, at Higashi-machi in Kameyama City.
