Potential field exploration generates a large amount of data, which require special techniques of high-adaptability and high-speed to process meaningfully. This paper proposed an inversion method for gravity gradiometry data, generalized from magnetic dipole localization method by Poisson's relation under the hypothesis that the boundaries of the gravitational and magnetic source are the same and the magnetization and density are uniform. This method was applied to the synthetic data. In order to improve its adaptability in noise condition, Tikhonov regularization algorithm is used solve the ill-posed problem. Finally, the method was applied to gravity gradiometry data over Vinton Dome and obtained a good result, in aggreement with previous research results of this area.
