Pre-stack joint inversion of PP and PS waves based on initial model constraint

The pre-stack inversion of PP wave seismic data only cannot provide enough and accurate inversion information for interpretation. With the widely use of multi-component exploration technology, the pre-stack joint inversion using PP and PS seismic data has been developed. It can reduce the uncertainty of inversion and obviously improve the accuracy of inversion by jointly using the PP wave and PS wave data. In this paper, firstly we re-express the linearized reflection coefficients of PP and PS. And then we perform the PP and PS waves joint inversion by using the three-parameter simultaneous inversion method based on the Bayesian theory. Finally we can get the inverted P-wave impedance, S-wave impedance and density by adding initial model constraint. The proposed joint inversion method is tested on a 9-layer model data and real well logs. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can provide more accurate inversion results than those by using PP data only, and can also obviously increases the precision of the inverted S-wave impedance and density.
