Operators and other consumers' requirements about optical fiber cables are getting tougher with the increasing application scenarios of cables. Therefore, other than conventional optical cable production materials, other new materials with excellent processing performance, mechanical performance, and environmental performance are gradually becoming a new trend of optical cable manufacturers. In this paper, we researched the feasibility of thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE) for loose tubes and conducted a series of studies for the optical, mechanical, and environmental properties of TPEE loose tubes and corresponding optical cables, and finally found that the TPEE satisfies completely the requirements of application of conventional outdoor fiber optic cables.
