POTENTIAL DOMAINS OF USAGE THE QUARTZ SANDS ON THE LIGNITE DEPOSIT 'FIELD E', KOLUBARA COAL MINES (KCM), SERBIA

Throughout the entire geological column of the neogen Kolubara sedimentary basin, as well as on the exploration area "Field E", quartz sands have the largest widespread. As the secondary mineral material, within and beyond the boundary limits of coal seams, there are huge quantities of quartz sands qualitatively very diverse. both in terms of mineral composition and in terms of grain-size dispersion, morphological characteristics of sand grains and the structural relationships of mineral components. The realized exploration works, obtained results and reached level of exploration favoring quartz sands which are situated between the underlying and overlying coal seam. Regarding to the quality and quantity they currently represent the most raw material potential of quartz sand on "Field E". The purpose of this paper is to define the domain of application and the possibilities of placing these sands, according to the average quality in the deposit and the technical requirements of individual branches and customers. Based on prevous laboratory testing, the. quartz sands "Field E" indicated their applicability in a number of industrial products.
