Although urea has been produced for more than 90 years on an industrial scale, making accurate mathematical plant models is still not trivial. Complex physical phenomena in the carbamate mixture and carbamate to urea reaction are hard to describe accurately and give serious deviations when applying traditional modeling methods. Over the years, Stamicarbon has continuously improved its thermo dynamical and kinetic models reaching a point where accurate plant modeling is possible. Having such strong fundamental basis was the trigger for Stamicarbon to launch a new product family based on rigorous non-linear plant models. These products range from off-line applications, Real Time Optimizers (RTO), on-line Total Plant Monitoring systems (TPM), Operator Training Simulator systems (OTS) and finally Stamicarbon's yield optimization solution.
