AN INVESTIGATION ON THE USE OF COLOURED LIGHT IN FACADE LIGHTING

Nowadays, the use of coloured light is very common both in static and dynamic facade lighting because of its easy producibility by LED technology. The aim of this study is to investigate the attitudes of people towards static or dynamic facade lighting implemented by coloured light. For this purpose, seven buildings located in Istanbul and lit by LED luminaires are chosen and suitable lighting technique alternatives for each building, different from the existing static or dynamic lighting, have been explored. Thus, different lighting design alternatives have been created for each building and each of these alternatives were composed separately as static lighting using white light, static lighting using coloured light, and dynamic lighting using coloured light. Surveys have been performed to evaluate the designed 132 different facade lighting alternatives by Photoshop visually. The survey aimed to determine the preferences of participants on lighting technique, colour of light and static-dynamic lighting.
