With single ring-stiffened cylindrical shell taken as an object, the model experiment was carried out to study the influence of the effects of force and sound excitation on the single cylindrical shell in air and underwater. Then, by using Abaqus and LMS Virtual.Lab FE/BE software, the relationship between shell vibration and sound radiation and the sound and vibration performance of cylindrical shell structure are compared and analyzed. The result shows that when the cylindrical shell is excited by sound or force, the vibration characteristics of the structure in the air and in water are quite different. Cylindrical shell in the water vibration attenuation faster. Vibration and acoustic radiation of a single ring-stiffened cylindrical shell related to the modal of a cylindrical shell.
