This study demonstrates the effect of the rate of applied loads on the pullout resistance and the generated suction pressure of anchor in terms of a laboratory model and field tests in sandy soils. Both tests clearly showed the pullout resistance tends to increase with increasing of pullout velocity even in small displacement. The test results have been compared with finite element analysis with soil–fluid interaction. It was confirmed that the analysis results, such as pullout resistance, generated suction pressure, and distribution of suction pressure, qualitatively agree with test results of this paper.
