SINGAPORE-IN-MOTION: MORE DATA LEAD TO BETTER UNDERSTANDING

摘要

The past few years have seen fast paces on sensing technologies and their applications in urban systems. Most such systems are designed for specific purposes and the data are not shared with others. However, the cutting-edge research have shown that the data can be used in different other applications and can be even more powerful when they are integrated. To unlock the data silos in terms of both policy and technology, we proposed the Singapore-in-Motion project, which aims at fostering a trustful entity that organizes data sharing and cross-discipline research and applications. As part of the Smart City practice, its ultimate goal is to furnish solid infrastructure that meets the urban challenges. At current stage, we focus on interweaving core data providers in Singapore to demonstrate the powerfulness of integrated data with exemplar applications, most of which are related to transportation and city planning. In this paper, we are going to share the background and progress we have achieved in the past few months. This paper is organized as following: Section I, background and motivation; Section II, challenges and our approach; Section III, where we stand; Section IV, conclusion and future plan.
