The changes in humic substances structures extracted from soils affected by alkaline fly-ash blown out from the dumping site of Belchatow power plant were studied using the fluorescence spectroscopy.Humic and fulvic acids were extracted from ectohumus horizons of Podzols located 50 m and 4 km from the dumping site.The alkalization caused by the influence of fly-ash dumping site contribute to creation of humic substances with a more complex structure containing the higher molecular weight fractions,indicated by lower intensity of the fluorescence.
