A series of CFD analysis were conducted for triangular array rod bundles with different pitch-to-diameter ratios (P/D=1.20, 1.05) to assess the prediction performance of the RANS models, i.e., the standard k-ε model and the second-order closure models. This paper presents the effect of the pitch-to-diameter ratio and the Reynolds number. The CFD results were compared with the DNS results and the available experimental data. The second-order model by Speziale-Sarkar-Gatski predicted the mean flow characteristics and the turbulent structure for P/D=1.20 at high Reynolds number fairly well. However, the RANS models showed a significant difference from the DNS for P/D=1.05 or at low Reynolds number.
