摘要

Specially formulated coatings and varnishes have provided the printer with the ability to produce printed materials with great improvements in productivity. These coatings used in the modern graphic arts technologies have allowed printers to provide value added aesthetic and functional improvements to all types of prints. Coatings are usually classified as aqueous, EB and UV and have different application characteristics and produce different appearances of print. The aim of this paper is to investigate the differences in tone values of offset printed samples made with conventional and hybrid inks varnished with aqueous and UV coating. The investigation in the changed appearance included densitometric and colorimetric measurement of the samples. The results have shown differences in the optical tone values of conventional and hybrid inks, as well the increase of the saturation of colours with the increase of applied coating.
