INTEGRATED CAD/ERP FRAMEWORK FOR MODULAR CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRIALIZATION THROUGH LEAN MANUFACTURING CONCEPTS

During the last 50 years manufacturing industry has been developing various methods to decrease lead times and reduce manufacturing costs. Most of those improvement methods are nowadays referred as lean manufacturing. In the construction industry lean techniques have also been adopted. However, lack of integrated material control solutions through the lifecycle of projects is a major hurdle to practice lean techniques. Due to natural complexity of construction projects, it is very difficult to establish transparent material information flow in the real time. In this paper, authors present an integrated framework for computer-aided design (CAD) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. This integration enables to improve the strategic advantage of construction companies in the terms of production costs and customers' satisfaction.
