Numerical Analysis of Multiphase Cavitating Flow

This work is devoted to develop the numerical solution procedure for cavitating and ventilated flows based on the compressible, multi-phase, homogeneous mixture model. The governing equations are discretized on a general, structured grid using an implicit upwind shock-capturing scheme with high resolution in conjunction with appropriate limiters to prevent the generation of spurious solutions near shock waves or discontinuities. Two well-known limiters are examined and a new limiter is proposed to enhance the accuracy and stability of the numerical scheme. They were then adopted in the computations of water flows over axisymmetric projectitles, a divergent/convergent nozzle, a very high speed projectitle and water entry body. The results which are obtained with proper model parameters are shown to be close to available experimental data and other published results.
