Excessive exposure to solar radiation can lead to serious damages to the body, making the use of sunscreens essential. Sunscreen nanoencapsulation can improve the efficiency of photoprotective formulations because active compounds can be kept in the outer layers of the skin. For this reason, the main objective of the present work is the comparative evaluation of different sunscreen (avobenzone and benzophenone-3) nanoencapsulation processes (liposomes and miniemulsions) in terms of emulsion stability and process performance. It is shown that miniemulsion polymerizations can lead to products with higher stability and allow for higher sunscreen encapsulation efficiencies, close to 100 wt%.
