Evolutionary Trends in the Tissue Industry and Valmet's Contribution

This paper looks at the evolution of the industry regarding 3 areas including paper quality and cost, project execution and mill operations and Valmet's contributions to those trends. While striving for the best tissue quality, the tissue maker continuously works to reduce his cost with particular focus on operational and raw material expenditure. Project execution in the Tissue Industry is transforming itself with the growing transfer of responsibility of scope to the key equipment vendors. Tissue customers count increasingly on the machine builder to deliver a more extended scope of supply mainly related to the machine itself. Similarly, the tissue makers' are increasingly engaging key suppliers with long term service contracts so they can focus their efforts on increasing tissue quality demands.
