In recent times there has been a focus on gathering information to prevent and manage disasters in the construction industry in Ghana. Geotechnical surveys can be used to gather information on the subsurface for siting and designing infrastructure. This study studies the subsurface of the resort towns of Abonu and Obo in the Bosumtwi impact crater using GPR. The data was analyzed using diffraction velocity analysis for migration and time depth conversion of the data. Results showed that the bedrock varies between 40 m to 60 m and is perturbed. Fractures also exist within the area studied. The water table varies between depths of 15 m to 20 m. This suggests to policy makers that guidelines for building resorts and complex structures near and around the towns within the crater should be different from the general building codes in the district.
